The TomTom GO app allows you to search for a destination (town, city, or village) or a point of interest (restaurant, market, or gas station). It works well enough, but sometimes users can’t find the desired destination, especially POIs. I strongly suggest enabling the “Online Search” feature in “Settings > TomTom Services.” This feature significantly improves search results by using online data from TomTom’s servers.

However, we can all agree that searching for POIs on Google Maps is phenomenal. Some advantages include a huge database, location awareness, behavior awareness, additional POI information (reviews, photos, live occupancy, etc.), up-to-date data, and speedy searches.
Whenever I searched for a POI, I tried TomTom first. If I couldn’t find it there, I opened Google Maps, searched for the POI’s address, and used it in TomTom. It’s not very convenient.
Then, I tried searching for a POI in Google Maps and selected “Share.” A bunch of apps for sharing came up, but TomTom was not there. Surprisingly, I saw AmiGO on the list. I tried AmiGO, and it opened the app without inserting anything in the search field. Disappointing. TomTom wasn’t on the list, and AmiGO didn’t work.
Then, I tried another approach. I searched on Google Maps, scrolled down to the address, touched and held the address (this copies the address to the clipboard), switched to the TomTom app, and pasted the address in TomTom’s search bar. That’s it.

Conclusion: Searching for a destination (addresses) in TomTom works well. However, if you search for a point of interest (POI) that isn’t in TomTom’s database, the above steps can help.
